Goat Hair
2021- present, Virginia & Maryland.
A project of sourcing, hand processing, and hand spinning the normally unutilized down fiber from local goats of the region, especially from non-fiber breeds such as household dairy goats, meat goats, wethers, and mixed breed sanctuary herds, in addition to cashmere breeds. This project is an experiment in creating garments on the household level from animals typically not thought to serve a fiber role in local communities. The purpose of this project is a reclamation of hand-spun goat hair textiles as items of community value.
